Leather Sewing Needles x 2 by Schmetz in 2 sizes
These are the only 2 Sewing Machine Needles you will need for sewing leather
in a Home Sewing Machine.
Since no one uses "pins" to sew leather, it is very rare to break a sewing machine needle
when sewing leather.  I have had a needle to sew leather that I used for 2 years straight
without breaking it and made dozens of leather projects.
When people sell you a "pack of 5" they know you will be unlikely to use 4 of those needles.

a HOME SEWING MACHINE.  I plan to have my free videos teach people to make their own shoes,
but right now
I just need to be sure people can comfortably sew leather, starting with simple projects and
then moving on to custom shoes (gradually) so it's a comfortable transition.
This set of needles is just what you need.
People who recommend using a larger size are definitely not
shoemakers!!!
Shoemakers are known to be the people who do the finest work in sewing leather.  If you
are trying to sew thick leather in a
home
sewing machine, stop.
That is not a good idea for
your non-industrial sewing machine. Even with a big needle, it's a mistake.
